Divisions of Play & SKILLS GUIDELINES

Division placement is determined by a combination of variables including player league age, and or skill level determined by an evaluation process within Little League guidelines. The appropriate level-of-play for a child is not determined strictly or solely by the player's age, although age is one factor that parents and managers use to help ascertain the correct level for that child.  In the level-of-play descriptions, below, we provide guidelines for the skill levels and ages of children who may play at each of the levels.  You should register your child for the most appropriate division based on their skills.  Little league age for the 2024 season can be checked here.

Determining the division in which your child plays will be based on these guidelines, feedback from Player Evaluation Sessions, and evaluations from prior year coaches. Tee ball, Rookie & Single A players do not participate in Player Evaluations. They will be placed on teams by the ESLL division VP and Player Agent.

ESLL reserves the right to re-assign a child to a division other than the one in which he or she is originally registered or requested by the parent(s). This is done for a variety of reasons: league age, safety, the need for equal teams, for the development of any particular child, to ensure that each division has the requisite number of players, or for the general well-being of the league as a whole.

ESLL has published an updated skill requirements document for parents to review in advance of registration to determine where the player will best fit to develop their skills and love for the game of baseball. The registration application will ask several questions to help us determine the correct division for your child based on these variables.

Little League Age

Little League International determines league age. Please use the 2024 league age chart to determine your child’s league age, which may be different from actual age.

Player Evaluations

Mandatory players evaluations held in January 2024 for AA, AAA and Majors Divisions. Evaluations are done to assess skill and create well balanced teams. The players can evaluate for different divisions if the player is skilled enough to play up (but are still within age guidelines).

Saturday 12/16 & Sunday 12/17 - PLAYER EVALUATIONS

Friend requests are not accepted in the competitive baseball divisions (AA and above.) ESLL will make every effort to honor Tee Ball, Rookie and Single A friend requests.
